Breathing Tricks and Tips

One of the most shocking things in therapy for me was learning how much breathing can be used to calm down your nervous system and help you deal with situations when anxiety runs rampant. For anyone who has ever had anxiety, you will know how bad it can get.

  1. Deep Belly Breathing (Diaphragmatic Breathing):
  • Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit or lie down.
  • Place one hand on your chest and the other on your abdomen.
  • Inhale slowly and deeply through your nose, letting your abdomen rise as you fill your lungs.
